Five Tips for Hiring a Wedding Photographer
Before You Book Anyone — A few honest tips worth knowing — whoever you choose.
1. Choose your photographer at the time of the agreement — don’t let the studio assign the photographer to you.
2. Review the specific photographer’s portfolio, not just the studio’s overall highlight portfolio.
3. Ask if they shoot RAW — it’s the format that gives the best quality and editing flexibility. Be cautious of studios shooting JPEG only.
4. Confirm backup equipment — a photographer with only one camera and lens is a risk on a day you can’t redo.
5. Ask about backup photographers for emergencies — and avoid studios that don’t have a real contingency plan.

Your choice of any photographer: $3250 for wedding day plus 2 days or $2500 for wedding day plus 1 day
Additional Photographer Details & Coverage Options
- • Additional photographer of your choice: 4 hours for $1200. Each additional hour is $200
- • There are no “main” or “secondary” photographers so when you hire 2 photographers you get two primary photographers.
- • Since not all studios will show you the work of their second photographers or give you the ability to choose a specific second photographer, it’s a good idea to ask who your second photographer would be and to see their work
- • By selecting an additional photographer, you will receive an additional 400-600 fully post processed/edited & non-watermarked digital negatives (high resolution jpeg images converted from RAW format) with full rights & print release
Additional Package Options & Albums
- • Additional time is $200/hour. Additional time after a signed contract is $250/hour
- • 1 hour engagement session at specific locations – $400
- • 1 hour engagement session at a location of your choice – $500
