Summer came a little early in Annapolis and just in time for Jessica and Matt’s wedding at the Naval Academy as documented by Napoleon who is one of our Annapolis wedding photographers. After the long and crazy winter we had, Jessica and Matt brought with them fantastic weather all the way from Hawaii, where they are both stationed! It was another perfect, sunny, day in downtown Annapolis with people everywhere enjoying the day. The bridal party and other family were all staying at the beautiful State Inn situated right across the street from the State House. The ceremony at the Naval Academy Chapel was picture perfect. The pageantry of the chapel was completed by the sword arch to celebrate the happy couple as they were walking out of the service. As tradition has it, the last person in the Sword Arch gets to give the bride a traditional whack with his saber welcoming the bride in to the service and to the family. After some fun pictures at the Superintendent’s back yard and Bancroft Hall, we were off to the Naval Academy Club for the reception. The party was full of good times and plenty of fun characters. The cake cutting was touch and go at first, but the couple restrained themselves and it was a relatively peaceful exchange of wedding cake. Good thing since there was a saber involved! Prior to heading back to duty in Hawaii (Jessica is an officer, like Matt, but in the Navy), Jessica and Matt are off to enjoy their honeymoon in New Zealand!
