Vendor Spotlight: Petal’s Edge Floral Design

Petal’s Edge Floral Design specializes in custom floral design for Washington DC area weddings and events. Operating from their studio in Old Town Alexandria, they excel in the planning and creativity necessary to bring style and panache to any event – no matter how big or how small. Founded in 2004, Petal’s Edge quickly distinguished themselves in the DC wedding scene, being named to Washingtonian Magazine’s esteemed list of best wedding florists within the first full year of business. Since then, with over 1,800 weddings under their belt, Petal’s Edge has created unique designs for weddings and events as diverse as their clientele – from fresh and modern designs to classic and traditional events to quirky and unique arrangements. Under the creative direction of Gerry Rogers and a team of talented designers, they endeavor to put their clients first – expressing their taste and style for the event. The company supports environmental practices, taking pains to compost and recycle renewable materials. They are an ardent supporter of marriage equality and embrace love in all its diversity.

How long have you been in business?

15 marvelous years!

What advice do you have for those planning a wedding?

I always counsel our couples that the planning process is as hard as you decide to make it.

What do you love most about doing what you do?

I love that moment of putting it all together, translating vague ideas and color schemes into something real and magical, and the joy on our couples’ faces.

What inspires you?

I draw inspiration from many places. Anywhere you see color and shape and texture and form!

What are the most important things to remember on the wedding day?

The most important thing to remember is that it’s about getting married.

What sets you apart from others in your field?

I think what sets us apart is that we have a good sense of the big picture of the whole event, both what matters and what doesn’t, and that goes beyond just the details we are involved in creating. We take a “boutique” approach with our clients, working very personally with them and most importantly listening to them. It’s not about my voice; it’s about theirs.
