Photographer, Studio Owner, Photo Editor, Client Coordinator — Making Brides & Grooms Happy

I wasn’t one of those kids with a camera around his neck at age two. I didn’t grow up in a creative household — both my parents worked 9-to-5 jobs — so after high school I went to business school because that’s all I really knew. In my third year, I had to take an elective. I chose photography, and it opened my eyes to the world from a completely new perspective. I loved wandering the city streets with my camera, documenting street life exactly as I saw it. Around the same time, I met an artsy girl named Kim, who is now my wonderful, creative wife. (And yes, she’s still artsy.)

Those forces pulled me out of business school and into a full-time professional photography program — a great experience and a great foundation. I quickly discovered my passion was documenting people and their lives, so I began working for newspapers, where I spent 10 years as a photojournalist.

I fell into weddings by accident when a fellow photographer at the paper mentioned she shot weddings on the side. I imagined a wedding photographer posing every picture and basically running the wedding. That wasn’t me or my style at all. I photograph weddings like a photojournalist, capturing real moments as they unfold, along with creative portraits. I’m always happy to do family photos, and I believe that process should be short and sweet so you can relax and enjoy your day.

I started my wedding photography studio in 2001, and over the past 25 years I have photographed hundreds of weddings. Today I still photograph weddings and also manage a team of wedding photographers. From the start, my objective was to offer amazing images and great service, and that continues to be the cornerstone of my business philosophy. To each wedding, I bring everything I have — my passion for the craft and my experience from hundreds of weddings and thousands of newspaper assignments.
